Paula P. had to travel a full hour to get to our humble office and claim the mystery looloot bag she won from the Halloolooween Contest. She even had to convince her mom that this wasn’t one of those contests where you win prizes “randomly” via text.
So you can just imagine the horror surprise on her face as she approached the big looloot bag and saw not one, but two paper towels sticking out of it.
We all watched closely as she grabbed the paper towels, stared at it for a good couple of seconds (out of disbelief maybe?) and then graciously said, “Uh… kailangan ko ‘to.”
She took another “prize” from the bag, cautious and clearly weirded out by what we’re doing.
It was heavy. She looked at the item more closely and it screamed, “Surprise, cupcake baker! I’m something you absolutely need in your life – an iPhone App Development book for Dummies!” And while it may sound cool since it is about making iPhone apps, we believe the book was published in 2008. It’s also important to note that this time around, Paula had a hard time saying “Kailangan ko ‘to.”
She grabbed one prize after another. Eventually, she looked at us and quipped, “…Meron pa ba kayong ibang basura dito sa office? Baka pwede pa nating idagdag sa bag?”
We laughed after she asked us this question and then proceeded to actually look for more random things to add to her bag. We were so close to adding looloo crew member Roegan T.’s framed photo on top of our book shelf but decided it had some sort of sentimental value.
With a 3-month old maple syrup packet from McDonald’s, a single Mentos candy, a tissue box, two paper towels, one pack of post-it notes, and a box of matches, it’s not hard to wonder if it was a looloot bag filled with random (old) stuff from our office.
But before you think we’re just a bunch of bullies asking someone to travel far and wide for some old maple syrup and paper towels, Paula actually had the best looloot bag out of all three Halloolooween contest prizes.
Her looloot bag came with the highly-coveted, warm, fuzzy, and oh so comfortable looloo hoodie, a looloo payoong, a bottle of wine (why not), two PhotoJojo lenses that can also be used for non-iPhone devices, and fake poop! (The fake poop is a rare find and is guaranteed to bring happiness to its owner and her friends. *wink wink*)
So if the looloo gods pick you as a contest winner next time and it involves mystery bags, you might want to try being a bit more risky when it comes to picking your prize. You might just win something cool. No guarantees though, it could just be a pack of cotton balls next time. Ha!
P.S. As proof that Paula didn’t leave upset or crying, we made sure to force her to smile and look happy in these photos. Kidding aside, she even took a selfie wearing the looloo hoodie and using the fisheye lens. Booyeah!
